I am the sum of my parts. I am what you get when your social skills come from British Television shows and the Muppets. Coming from a creative family, it was never seen as unusual for me to embrace the arts. What was not expected was finding a magical world filled with people who spin things and embrace sensory seekers. This world of wonderment has enriched me as a person and allowed me to express myself in more than just words or sounds.

It has only been a few years since I began to play with fire and since then I can say it has changed how I look at the world. Fire is a dangerous and there are real things to be concerned with as I weave magic in the air. When I’m in the zone and embracing the sound, smells, and weight of fire my anxieties all fall away. I concentrate only on the moment and leave all my worries behind.

My Autism allows me to find the beauty in the world from a very different perspective. I know there is not a one-size fits all type of life for everyone and that is what helps to make the world a very special space. When I spin fire for an audience, I hope to bring them a little big of happiness and wonderment to their day. Even in the darkest of moments, we can rest assured we have a fire in ourselves to help light the way.

“We have a fire in ourselves to help light the way” I want to remember this and share it with my students.
